SANTAVANA FOREST HERMITAGE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR THE NEW CENTRE
NEW CENTRE, NEW ERA
Within the next two years, Santavana Forest Hermitage will set up a permanent centre for diverse learning in Kota Kinabalu. The new centre, named ‘Education Promotion Centre of Santavana Forest Hermitage’, will be multi-functional in order to facilitate all educational functions.
POTENTIAL OF THE NEW CENTRE
Dedicated to promoting education, the new centre is full of potential – it is not only a place for city folk to retreat to in their hectic life when they need to find peace and composure, but also a spiritual fuelling station where they can imbibe the Dharma and learn meditation. With space allocated for a reception cum tea room, office, classroom, meditation hall, audio-visual centre, library, and short-term lodging for members of the Sangha, the new Centre serves as a place to encourage tea culture, calligraphy, painting, yoga and other cultural activities to blend and inspire, while also providing young people opportunities to cultivate leadership and personal development.
ESTIMATED COST & AGENDA OF PROGRESS
It is estimated that the cost of the new venue, furnishings, religious sculptures, audio-visual equipment, and other hardware will amount to 3 million MYR. Being a non-profit organization, Santavana cannot take out a loan, and therefore needs to raise the full sum within 1 year (April 2016 – April 2017). In the following year (April 2017 – April 2018), the furnishing and setting up will be carried out, and it is hoped that by May 2018, all will be completed and ready for use.
