INTRODUCTION
Mettā Bhāvanā, meditation on loving-kindness, is one of the most ancient Buddhist meditation practices. It helps practitioners in cultivating merits, overcoming sorrow and lamentation, and bringing happiness to the mind. Mettā Bhāvanā is also known as the “super glue” in maintaining relationships as it nurtures benevolence among people.
With such benevolence, practitioners find themselves flow with ease both at work and in life. Also, Mettā Bhāvanā not only helps to achieve Samadhi (concentration) quickly, but lays a powerful foundation for cultivating insight (Vipassana). As mentioned in the Sutta, successful practitioners can expect eleven benefits from this practice, including staying happy and peaceful while asleep or awake, dreaming no bad dreams, loved by others, achieving Samadhi quickly, maintaining bright complexion, dying without confusion, and more.
